Masters Week-Lake Oconee

Masters Week-Lake OconeeI’ve been out and about each night meeting and greeting those in town for the Masters and it’s been a great week thus far here on the lake. Monday I headed up to Silver Moon to support our local Humane Society and ended up volunteering to help out which I was more than happy to do! A Master’s Pool was being held to raise money for the cause and for $10 you got the chance to win $1000 gift certificate to the Ritz-Carlton. Few denied their soft spot for a furry friend and I know the Humane Society is incredibly appreciative to those who stepped up and showed their support. I definitely see myself wanting to become more involved with the program.

If there is any place on the lake who has got it down pat it’s Silver Moon. Not only this week but every week they consistently draw a crowd. Good food at great prices will do that for you and they seem to have figured that out! In three nights I saw many of the same faces and at the same time met people from Texas, Arizona, Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Wisconsin, and even a few from California. “First time eating here at the Moon,” I’d ask most of those I met and more often than not I got a “oh no, we come here every time we’re in town.” Definitely a favorite spot for those who live here and I highly recommend it if you’re ever in the lake area.

Masters Week-Lake OconeeAlso got the chance to catch a little bit of Eric Dodd’s performance at Magnolia Gardens last night as well. That too is a happening spot with nightly entertainment this week and an incredible bar set up. Feeling a little adventurous? Try their peanut butter & jelly wings! I had them a couple of weeks ago when I went in there for dinner and they were surprisingly tasty! Drew and I are set to have our rehearsal dinner at Magnolia’s this September when we get married so we like to frequent there to see how the crowd is and to try different items on the menu. Like Silver Moon, they’ve figured it out when it comes to pricing and with a three page menu the variety of choices is unbeatable. Despite being fairly new to the area they seem to have created a pretty solid fan base and with the summer just around the corner, they’ll probably just continue to get busier.

Tonight’s venture…who knows where the night will take me!
