It’s starting to get warmer in Georgia. Thank you! The snow this past winter had me going crazy and really made me miss my days in the islands. Many people, myself included, view the first week in April as the beginning of the “season” here at the Lake. The Masters Golf Tournament has a tremendous economic impact on the area and it seems to start us on the right foot for the year. We’re blessed to have it only minutes down the road at Augusta National.
In a little over 3 weeks, this famous golf tournament will bring a flood of green jackets to the Lake Oconee area. That’s right…former Masters champs, players, and true golf fans flock to Augusta to watch the play but when it comes to luxury rentals and golf they turn to our little community on the Lake. Here’s me with Fuzzy last year!
With 10 famous courses to choose from, so many places to stay, and easy transportation down I-20 to Augusta National, why would you EVER stay in Augusta? You can rent a house on the lake with a hot tub and a big dock and call my friend Lynn Webb at Lakeside Travel and Limousine to arrange daily transportation to Augusta for you. My family’s Bed and Breakfast in Greensboro, The Goodwin Manor, also has spots available. On your off-days you could play golf at any one of the big courses. Harbor Club even has a deal going for Masters Week this year. So forget Augusta and come stay at Lake Oconee for some real action!
Speaking of the beginning of the season, hot tubs, and big docks, May 1st Drew and I are moving back on the water once again! We leased a house right on the lake in Parks Mill (east side) and can’t wait to have friends and family over to visit. Nightly sundowners all summer!
