Alright sports fans, the time is almost here! Sunday night Drew and I will head over to our friends house to fill up on an assortment of apps, chicken wings, and a few cold ones while we get our final fill of football for the year. Super Bowl XLV between the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers kicks off at 6:30 pm (EST) live from Dallas and home turf of the Cowboys.
Since my boy Brady got his keister whooped in the playoffs, I’ve willing to forgo my devotion to the Patriots for the evening and root for the Steelers. This past summer I worked at the Lake Club in Reynolds and Ben Roethlisberger, or “Big Ben” as many like to call him, is a member there. I remember the first time he walked in early in the summer and I had the whole, “holy s$%^, that’s the quarterback for the Steelers,” even though I knew very well that he owned property down here. Like everybody else in the world, I’d heard the rumors, I’d watched ESPN, I knew what was being said about him. One time I even offered to change the channel on the t.v. from ESPN to something else because quite frankly I figured he was tired of hearing about it. Like so many others, he was probably here on the lake just trying to enjoy himself and relax. Throughout the summer I had the pleasure of chatting with him on many different occasions and mixing him and his buds (including some of his teammates) drinks. Say what you will, he was never anything but incredibly nice and generous to me and therefore I have no problems with the guy.
For tickets to a game I might consider retiring the Brady jersey and picking me up a #7 : )
I’m just happy to see him be able to take such a challenging and difficult year in his life and turn it around for the positive. What better way to respond to your critics than to go from game suspensions to the Super Bowl!?
