If you are anything like me you’ve probably waited until this week to finish, or perhaps even begin, your Christmas shopping! Knowing how to get the most bang for your buck when it comes to a gift for a loved one or friend can be hard. I always want to make sure the money I’m spending is going to go to good use and that it will be something the receiver needs. Who wants, or can afford, to waste money right?
In search of something different for my parents this year I came across an article that suggested a gift idea meant to appeal to the “green thumb” in everybody. Christmas gifts that pertain to gardening make great last minute gifts. There are tons of choices and an added bonus is that if properly cared for, it could be a gift that keeps on giving year round! Having just opened a Bed & Breakfast/Event Venue in downtown Greensboro, my parents are in dire need of all things green for both the in and outside of their house.
To stick with the time of year, poinsettias are always great gift ideas that add both color, maybe scent, and seasonal decoration to ones home. Anthuriums, bromeliads, kalanchoe, and hibiscus are all other potted plant options to choose from that when in bloom can produce a red bud.
If you are like my mom you probably love hummingbirds. For something different you could always get someone a hummingbird feeder to hang outside their window and inside tuck a recipe for artificial nectar. Bird feeders, bird seed, or bird houses are another idea for the friend who won’t mind the occasional squirrel visiting their backyard.
Taking a decorative pot and filling it with gardening tools or perhaps even a subscription for an ecofriendly magazine would be a great gift for anyone!
