Lake Oconee Movies

Last Thursday evening around 11 p.m. Drew found something online that said the movie theater here was having a midnight showing of the new Harry Potter movie. First of all, it’s still hard for me to believe that we even have a movie theater in Greensboro! Since moving back here in March, Drew has been adjusting to small town living. For me, however, I’m still blown away by all that the area has to offer now as opposed to what was here when I was a little girl. Growing up there was Pizza Hut, Hardees, or the Golden Pantry for a chicken bisquit. Those were our dining choices. Now, between downtown Greensboro and the lake, there are tons of options for eating out that stretch way beyond fast food.  Drew and I have tried just about everything in the area and the options do not leave me wanting for more. One of my absolute favorites is the Yesterday Cafe in downtown Greensboro. They have the BEST buttermilk pie in the world!

Recently Forbes announced that Greene County is #2 on the list of where America’s money is moving. You can definitely see the effects that it is having on the area. Great communities like Reynolds Plantation are driving forces behind the citizens here having great places to eat, shopping, and even the movie theater.

We managed to shake off being tired and went to that midnight showing of the movie. We weren’t the only ones with the idea either because they were able to fill two theaters! But the nicest part about the whole thing was just having the option.

Greene County has come a long way.
